Where heaven meets earth
This Jeeptour we did shortly before christmas in 2014 proofed that there are still spots on planet earth where natural beauty still exists. I never saw such – in the true sense of the word – breathtaking landscapes and sceneries. In an altitude of 4000m air gets thinner and walking around feels like running a marathon. We passed hundreds of kilometers per day starting in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile with destination Uyuni in Bolivia where the same-named salt flat is located. We were passing colorful lagoons, flamingos, geysers, hot springs and volcanos and I felt like being on another planet. We slept in a hostel made of salt and had so much fun with our travel fellows from France and Portugal, although our driver hadn’t the same sense of humor. The altitude sickness was rough and even chewing coca leaves didn’t help a lot, but I’ll never forget what Mother Nature created there in Bolivia. When you reach the Salar de Uyuni on day 3, waking up at 4am and watching the sunrise in this endless width of the Salt Lake, you forget everything and just enjoy the silence. But convince yourself, pictures speak louder than words.
From Salar de Uyuni with love,
